Description

As one of his earliest works

a reminder of death

It depicts a Sunday afternoon at the Moulin de la Galette at Montmartre in Paris

the skeletal ghost of Kohada Koheiji pulls down the mosquito net and peers at the sleeping couple in their bed

in addition to the short brushstrokes of the pointillists to visually blend colors

Circus Sideshow ☲ Seurat ☳ Art Print beach As one of his earliestCircus Sideshow (1888, Parade de cirque) by Georges Seurat is his first nocturnal painting and the first to depict popular entertainment. Traveling circuses made seasonal appearances in Paris, where free sideshows were staged outside the circus tent to sell tickets. This painting represents the parade, or sideshow, of the Circus Corvi at the annual Gingerbread Fair in spring 1887, at Place de la Nation.
