The Arnolfini Portrait ☷ Van Eyck ☲ Canvas Add a Float Frame:Black Survage met Modigliani in 1911The Arnolfini Portrait (1434) by Jan van Eyck is considered one of the most original and complex paintings in Western art due to its stunning detail, complex iconography, geometric perspective, and expansion of space with the use of a mirror. It is a full length double portrait depicting the Italian merchant Giovanni di Nicolao Arnolfini, his wife and dog in their residence in Bruges. The dog appears to be a Griffon terrier, or early Affenpinscher.
