Arroyo Mocho, 1985 Size:Small - 11 x 15 inches and took our 9-year-old sonArroyo Mocho, 1985, an original watercolor painting by Carolyn Lord. This was painted in February, in the Arroyo Mocho that borders my neighborhood. The arroyo has always been there but was dramatically altered in the 1930s because it was a shallow gravel quarry to build the Bay Bridge, spanning between Oakland and San Francisco. Decades later, vegetation such as cat tails, watercress, black berries, and almond trees have softened the landscape.
